More Predictive simulations are currently used for many design tasks, such as building a new bridge or developing a new airplane. Its use in addressing movement disorders, though, has been limited. For instance, deciding which of two surgical approaches would produce the better outcome for a given patient is challenging and could be aided by predictive simulations. In this video, Simbios postdoctoral fellow Tim Dorn describes his research in simulating a walking motion without using any experimental data - the first step in demonstrating the feasibility of such predictive simulations.
